Trust Me Not, as the name suggests, is a story of love, betrayal, friendship and politics. Reeva Rai is a hard working girl who is offered a top-notch job as Assistant Vice-President at a PR firm. Although the job is dream-come-true for her, she finds it a little difficult to focus because her boss is the handsome billionaire Kunaal Kabi. They had met for the first time at a wedding and since then Reeva had been attracted towards him but getting no response from him after the party, she was miffed. This rocky beginning does affect her but she is determined to prove herself and continues to work with him. The company’s first big assignment is PR coverage for a political party. The plot takes a twist when Reeva is approached by her friend and social activist for help.

Ankita Verma Datta’s characters are good. Reeva is head strong and independent. Kunaal is handsome and broody. We also see the manipulations done by political parties and media channels for their benefit. There is also a take on a popular news reporter who shows news for money.

The story is interesting but loses steam sometimes in the middle and gets a bit dragged. A little constraint would have made this a more interesting novel. But all in all, a good read.
