Like Me or Like Me Not

The other day, after I published one of my blogs, I received a comment on the same. I found the comment quite rude. The person commenting doesn’t know me, they don’t know what I do or read or write. Now, I can understand they do not appreciate the particular genre that I was talking about but to scoff at it was a bit too much.

It also got me thinking, have I ever done that to anyone? Have I been so thoughtless in my comments? If I have, then I apologise. I should have been kinder in my words.

I have read and written my fair share of book reviews to understand that every word matters. Whether you like someone’s write up or not, you shouldn’t be rude when expressing your opinions. It takes a lot of courage to post something out there for the whole world to read. Maybe, we can be just be a little constructive in your criticism.

It is a fact that we cannot please everyone, and that is why I try not to. We are all unique individuals with different personalities, interests, and values, and not everyone will appreciate or understand us. Some people may dislike us for reasons that have nothing to do with us or beyond our control, such as their own insecurities or biases.

I believe that instead of striving to be liked by everyone, we should focus on being true to ourselves and living our lives according to our own priorities. Self-love will help us to feel more confident and secure in ourselves. I always try to remind myself that I am deserving of love and respect, whether someone likes me and my choices or not.

  1. Sad to hear about the rudeness… I too don’t understand why people should be rude when they can be sunshiny instead. Just be yourself and ignore what you don’t like! All the best!
