Book Review: Gold in Goa

Gold in Goa: Race for the Treasure (Ankur & Maithilli Mystery series Book 1) by Dr Amrita Basu is a mini murder mystery and treasure hunt.

We have Maithili and Ankur who have just reached Goa for their vacation and decide to visit the museum first. At the museum they find dead body of one of the old students from their college and a treasure map that’s gone missing.

Suddenly, finding themselves accused of a murder they didn’t commit and the need to locate the treasure before the murderers find it, they have their work cut out for them.

The story is concise, the mystery and tension has been built up well. Although, the story needed a little more background on all the characters, like how they know one another, how they met or their relationship with each other. That would have given more depth to the book.

It is a good book if you want to read something fast and interesting.

My rating: 3.3/5

  1. Museums serve as repositories of cultural heritage, offering glimpses into the past, art, and traditions of a region. In the small but culturally rich state of Goa, located on the western coast of India, several museums stand as testament to its vibrant history and diverse heritage. From artifacts showcasing the state’s colonial past to exhibits highlighting its rich cultural traditions, museums of Goa offer visitors a unique opportunity to delve into its multifaceted identity.
