As mother of a growing child, I constantly try to make nutritious food for my daughter. The nutritional needs of children are related to their growth. Adequate intake of all nutrients like carbohydrates, fat, minerals, proteins, etc. are necessary for maintaining health, and normal growth in children. But like most children, my daughter is a very picky eater which means fulfilling her daily nutrition requirements is one big job.
Importance of Protein for Children
Children, especially those under the age of 10 are active and like to spend a lot of their time running around and exploring the world. This is important for the overall development of any child and to enable them to do this, they need all nutrients including protein in their diet. Proteins are molecules made up of amino acids.
Benefits of Protein in Diet
Doing my regular research on nutrition for kids, I found that an adequate protein diet is highly beneficial for children. It has been said that proteins are the building blocks of life. Muscle growth occurs when there is a positive net protein balance in the body.
As protein is important for maintaining cell structure, a short supply of protein means that the body takes the protein from skeletal muscles to preserve what it considers more important tissues and body functions. This may result in muscle wasting and weakened bones which increase the risk of fractures and breakage. A high-protein diet also maintains hair and nail health along with muscles and bones.
Challenges in Meeting Protein Requirements
Now, adding protein to my daughterโs daily food was yet another huge task. All the usual forms of protein do work well but we all know how kids are when it comes to eating. Today they love eggs but tomorrow even the sight of eggs may make them scarper. This is a general happening in my home. Every other week my daughterโs taste changes which means that I need to find something new and good always. So you can understand my dilemma. Another protein-rich food that I want my daughter to have regularly is milk.
Complan for Nutritional Support
As a high-quality source of protein, milk has always been every parentโs dream come true. And when we add Complan to milk, we not only give our children a yummy drink that they drink with pleasure but also give them the vital nutrients they need for their growth.
Complan has 34 vital nutrients, including 100% milk protein, vitamins and minerals. For children, who in general are picky eaters, Complan added to milk serves as a great source of these nutrients. It has also been clinically proven that Complan supports 2x faster growth in children and also supports memory and concentration.
These days, I simply mix Complan in milk and give it to my Little One who loves the taste and finishes it in one go. At least now I donโt have to worry about her nutrition intake. And the running around and playing the whole day is on.
